We have 370 students currently enrolled in our program. One bracelet provides one year’s worth of primary school fees. This guarantees their entrance into school next year. These bracelets also help provide hygiene, textbooks and enable the kids to begin to save to go to secondary school.

Every single one of our bracelets was handmade through art classes by a child displaced by the war taking place in South Sudan. The students are endlessly creative and use colours to write and tell stories in their art lessons. They are then given the chance to make their own bracelets. This means that no two bracelets are exactly alike; the students choose the colours based on a story or on what those colours mean to them. There are a variety of styles as they make up the patterns completely by themselves and choose to do whichever pattern they have the most fun with.

Statistically, only 2% of South Sudanese refugees make it to secondary school. This offers little hope for the future of their nation. The kids we get to know, tickle and love do not have to one day be written down as a percentage number in a textbook. We refuse to let that happen. Kids are supposed to be kids and were never meant to struggle, fight or worry for their own education or health. Together, we are going to change these statistics before they ever have a chance to be written. Buy a bracelet, change a life. Buy a bracelet, flip the statistics. Thank you for joining us.
